Greetings From the President Welcome to the Legacy of Leadership Foundation landing page. Founded in Novi Michigan, December 13, 2016, we are a non-profit charitable foundation, under the umbrella of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, where we thrive to uplift the Novi community and beyond. As an introduction, Legacy of Leadership is a charitable foundation and a beacon of light dedicated to transforming lives and empowering communities through sustainable fundraising initiatives. Our LOL foundation collaborates with local organizations, utilizing data-driven approaches and sharing resources to identify and address specific needs within various neighborhoods and ensuring efficient and impactful service. Engagement initiatives within our charitable Foundation serve as vital strategies for fostering connections with communities and stakeholders. Our programs encompass a variety of activities, including volunteer opportunities, educational workshops, and fundraising events which support LOL’s Mission Statement, along with our goals, to “retain funds to support charities, religious, scientific, literary or educational purposes for persons, organizations or other foundations. Included in LOL’s overall mission is a willingness and commitment to seek or sponsor programs for youth and adults that recognize and benefit public welfare, community service, humanitarian efforts, arts, educational enrichment, family strengthening, global issues, environmental concerns and leadership development. Shortly after its inception, Legacy of Leadership Foundation instituted a scholarship program that supports males and females who wish to further their education and future careers. Applications are available during the first quarter, annually, with candidate selection occurring in April. In addition to scholarships, we have extended our global reach in providing sewing machines for young girls to become tailors in Africa to alleviate the cycle of poverty, and collaborated with our Sorority to purchase monthly sanitary products for young girls in Kenya. Locally, we have provided funds to purchase homeless female veterans with clothing and toiletries, and will continue to have a focus in improving the quality of life for individuals and organizations needing our assistance. Lastly, our Foundation works through carefully orchestrated steps to ensure benefits are impactful and can be measured as reaching the intended recipient for positive outcomes.
